Run Report - 26th April, Fox and Hounds

On a pleasant, humid evening 14 of us gathered in the car park of the Fox and Hounds (Selwyn, Michael, Jules, Amanda, Chris, Sharon, Susie, Jerome, Duds, Spider, Richard, Kate, David and myself).

Having virtually filled up the modest car park, members of the team asked some people who looked like members of staff whether we were all OK to park there. Unfortunately the bemused people in question were merely other customers trying to leave the car park after being blocked in by Jerome.

The run started at a pleasant pace with most of the first mile or so being a steady downhill. An early technical infringement was committed by Chris who pushed Amanda in the back on a rutted downhill section. He later claimed her fearful cries were expressions of joy and delight. Hmmm.

After a flattish middle section we encountered the large hill about a mile from home that takes you back up to the common. This hill is a real tester and I can report there was a ferocious attack on the hill by the four ladies, who on reaching the top outnumbered the gents there for a while.

Chris must have lost a cufflink or something at the bottom of the hill because he then proceeded to run back down the hill and then back up again. Takes all sorts, I suppose.

However, all made it home safely and so to the bar after a run of around an hour.

After a drink or two in the bar, discussions turned to the venue for next week. Selwyn (at least I think it was him) suggested a departure from convention in the form of a full-on urban trek through the streets of Wycombe. The suggested pub was the White Horse (the lap dancing venue and officially one of the 5 "hardest" pubs in England. I have to report there was a clear gender-based division of opinion on this suggestion.

It was finally agreed that the run for next week would be from Hughenden Church, followed by The Harrow. Run leaves at 7pm.

Cheers. Steve.
