Amanda & Jules Place, Radnage. 17 May 06.

This was the usual run from Villa Amanda & Jules that we last ran a couple of years ago. Maybe it was the weather, but starters were a little thin on the ground, though perhaps not surprisingly attendance post-running was boosted by Jerome (problems with his Broadband) and Chris & Sue (feeling a tad unwell).
Runners were (as I remember, forgive me if I've missed someone out): Amanda, Fred, Kate, David, Duds, Jules, Steve T and myself. Julian started late and did a little circuit of his own - even so he managed to pass me on that last bit of steep climb before the finish. He was running - I wasn't.
It was wet and it got wetter is a fair summary of the conditions. A bit slippery underfoot but not too boggy. Kate managed not to fall over. From the hi-tech kit available to me (i.e. thumb's length on the OS + counting the contours), I reckon we did about 5 miles (the extra-loopers a bit more), dropping rapidly about 50 metres at the start, climbing steadily for the first half of the run approx. 100 metres and vice-versa on the return. Amanda, Duds, David and myself opted for the (only slightly) shorter route back. At least we avoided the fully grown rape field which apparently the others encountered, making them even wetter.
A start at 6.45pm ensured a return of approx. 7.45, K.O. for the Champions League Final. This we were able to observe in great style on Amanda & Jules' new giant plasma screen with surround sound audio. With a few cans in tow, good company, nibbles and hot dogs (sausages from the reknowned local butcher) kindly served up by Amanda, what could be better?
Our thanks again to Amanda & Jules as our hosts.
Don't think we sorted the venue for this Wednesday's run, so as the poster of this report, can I suggest Stag & Huntsman @ Hambleden 6.45 for 7.00 pm start?

STag & Huntsman - bloody good idea.
I have a new route from the norm with what is it think a hill to challenge the best of them.

Can I join your running group please ? It sounds like fun. I am a 23 year old athletic Swedish student/au pair living in the High Wycombe area and I am looking for some casual exercise. My name is Helga and I come from Stockholm.

Hi Helga - new runners always very welcome, the time / venue for each Wednesday run is published on this Blog so feel free to meet us at the appropriate pub (all of which arein the Wycombe area). We meet in the pub car park at around 6:45pm to start the run at 7pm. The next run is 24th May at the Stag & Huntsman in Hambleden.

Hi all, Hi Helga, It's Big John here!
How strange! Are you the Helga I met in Marlow a couple of weeks ago? I didn't know you ran too. I am a very keen runner and have been looking for a group to run with for a while! Looking forward to my first run with some new friends, and of course meeting up with you again. Lets hope they don't take us too far!

Yeah sorry about that Steve - obviously got too much time on my hands at the moment. How about I do the next run report? Sweet as.

Nice to see you're still running on Wednesdays - I thought you'd given up as I hadn't received any emails for a while!
It would be great to catch up so maybe see you later.

Well what a night!
Sorry I missed you guys last night. I went to the Stag and Hounds and not the Stag and Huntsman.
What a silly girl!
Anyway "big John" made the same mistake so we decided to run together. It was good to get my heart pounding as John and I made up for lost time.
At one point we were a bit lost, so John pulled out his big GPS and then it all became clear (I knew what I wanted!)
We had a great time dispite the rain. We even found something to do whilst we waited for our clothes to dry!
Not sure we'll be there next week as John wants to take me a bit further next time!

Big John was running with us last night Helga so to whom are you referring ? By the way, In England we spell dispite as 'despite'. Just so that you can improve your English, that's all......

Hi Jerome

1. Go onto our Main WNR blog site.
2. Click on the "I Power Bogger" orange button (right hand side of the screen, under the "archives" section).
3. You are now on the main "Blogger" page - sign in (User ID/password) on the top right hand corner of the page (also tick the "remember me" box which means that your PC should remember this in future)
4. This should get you to the WNR dashboard page, press the green "New Post" (+) sign next to ""Wednesday Night Runners"
5. Fill in the title, and text of your post and press "Publish" and that should do it.

After you have published your post you can also edit it by going through the same process and clicking on the "Edit" tab on the page where you write the post.

Any problems then call me on 07710 844830

Cheers. Steve.
